Experience | Water Skiing
Water skiing can be done both professionally and for recreational enjoyment. It requires a good level of fitness and in particular, good upper and lower body strength. Water skiers can either start in the water with their skis attached, or have skis floated to them and put these on in the water. Whilst dry starts can be done, these should only be attempted by professionals or the very experienced.
There needs to be enough water ahead to give time for the skier to get upright and maintain the position before direction changes are required and therefore, whilst calmer waters are preferable for recreational sking, an estuary, river, lake or the sea can be used.
In Devon, try water skiing at one of the many South West Lakes Trust locations and receive expert tuition if required. You can also receive lessons on the River Exe, Salcombe, Torquay, Torbay and at Newton Abbot.
